About us
The Murraylands Arts & Crafts Collective was formed in October 1998 from artist and crafts people living in the Murraylands area.
The Collective secured rooms under the Murray Bridge Town Hall on Sixth st where we had a small gallery displaying our work. Members manned the rooms during the week and weekends so the public could visit and purchase artworks.
The Collective also held workshops in this venue, run by members or hired outside tutors for skills our membership didn't posses.
The Collective members help initiate the establishment of the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery which was built in the old Ball Room and kitchen area at the rear of the town Hall in 2001.
The Collective remained at this location until January 2009, when renovations to the Town Hall to upgrade the Regional Gallery meant our rooms were no longer available. As part of the redevolepment to the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery and upgrade to the Town Hall, the rooms beneath the Town Hall were converted into storage and other spaces. The Gallery has been fully integrated into the Town Hall with three gallery spaces, environmental controls, gift shop, offices, workshop areas, meeting areas, storage and its own lift.
The members of the Collective no longer have a physical space to exhibit their work all the time, so we now focus on mounting regular large exhibitions and holding regular workshops. Until January 2014, the members met in the workshop/meeting rooms located under the Regional Gallery. We met on the first Friday of the month at 10am.
The Collective disbanded in 2015
